Surrey-Green Timbers Recall Petition Unsuccessful

January 29, 2024

VICTORIA – The petition to recall Rachna Singh, Member of the Legislative Assembly for Surrey-Green Timbers, has failed. The petition did not receive the number of signatures required by the Recall and Initiative Act. The petition was submitted to Elections BC on January 29, 2024.

The petition was issued to proponent Gurdeep Jassal on November 30, 2023. A total of 101 voters registered as canvassers to collect signatures.

The recall proponent and MLA must file financial disclosure reports with the Chief Electoral Officer by February 26, 2024.

Thirty recall petitions have been issued since the Recall and Initiative Act came into force in 1995. None have met the requirements established by the Act.
