The Election Act establishes administrative monetary penalties for some cases of non-compliance with the Act. The Chief Electoral Officer has the authority to determine whether non-compliance has occurred and, if so, the amount of the penalty within ranges established by the Act.
The Application of Administrative Monetary Penalties policy outlines how we investigate cases that may result in an administrative monetary penalty. It is based on principles of administrative fairness, and designed to ensure that the subject of an investigation has a reasonable opportunity to be heard before an administrative monetary penalty is imposed.
The following administrative monetary penalties were issued by Elections BC.
