We’re attending the myPITA Conference May 21 – connect with us!

On May 21, we’re excited to have a virtual booth at the spring conference hosted by the Provincial Intermediate and Middle Years Teachers’ Association (myPITA). This organization provides professional development opportunities and teaching resources for intermediate and middle school teachers, student support workers and administrators from across the province.

Here we’ll be highlighting some of our voting and democracy-themed educational resources for students, including our:

• Democracy in a Box Activity Kit – This free resource includes supplies for a mock election, election trivia cards, a map to explore B.C.’s electoral districts, and a timeline to learn about the history of voting rights in B.C.
• Having a Voice: Voting Rights and Democracy in B.C. – Developed in partnership with the Royal BC Museum, this kit includes primary-source documents, photos, maps and activities on voting and democracy.
• Videos – Our short, animated videos are a great way to learn about parliamentary democracy, the voting process, the three levels of elections and the history of voting rights in B.C.
