FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
April 29, 2015

VICTORIA – Elections BC has received over 537,000 ballot packages or about 34% of the 1.56 million voting packages mailed to registered voters in Metro Vancouver since March 16, 2015.

Elections BC officials have processed 455,220 ballot packages through an initial screening process. See the detailed counts of ballot packages at elections.bc.ca/plebiscite/2015_Plebiscite_Interim_Ballot_Returns.

Voters who are Canadian citizens, 18 years of age or older on or before May 29, resident in B.C. for at least six months on or before May 29, registered to vote in B.C., and living in Metro Vancouver can vote in the plebiscite.

Metro Vancouver voters have until midnight May 15 to call 1-800-661-8683 and ask for a voting package. Elections BC must receive completed ballot packages before the close of voting at 8 p.m. on Friday, May 29.

“Voters are reminded to allow enough mailing time for their ballot package to reach us by the deadline,” says Chief Electoral Officer Keith Archer “or they can drop it off at one of nine Plebiscite Service Offices.”
