The List of Future Voters
Changes to the Election Act made in November 2019 will enable Elections BC to create the List of Future Voters. This is a list of eligible 16 and 17-year-olds who will automatically be added to the Provincial Voters List when they turn 18.
To be eligible for the List of Future Voters, you must be:
- 16 or 17 years old,
- a Canadian citizen, and
- a resident of B.C.
Why join the List of Future Voters
Being on the List of Future Voters will help remove administrative barriers to youth participation in provincial elections. When individuals on this list turn 18 and get added to the Provincial Voters List, they will receive important information from Elections BC during an election about where, when and how to vote. Having a current voter registration will also speed up the voting process.
