Media Advisory: Initiative Petition to Allow Voluntary Formation of Twenty Charter Schools Unsuccessful

VICTORIA – The initiative petition to allow voluntary formation of up to twenty charter schools contains insufficient signatures to proceed further in the initiative petition process.

Under the Recall and Initiative Act, signatures of at least 10 percent of the registered voters in each of the province’s 87 electoral districts were required.

The initiative petition was issued to the proponent, Robert Harvey Bray, on August 19, 2019. The petition was submitted to Elections BC on November 18, 2019.

The initiative proponent must file a financial disclosure report with the Chief Electoral Officer on or before 4:30 p.m. on Monday, December 16, 2019.
