Media Advisory: 2018 Referendum on Electoral Reform Financing Reports Available

VICTORIA – The 2018 Referendum on Electoral Reform financing reports for the proponent, opponent, and referendum advertising sponsors are available for public inspection at Elections BC, Suite 100 – 1112 Fort Street and on the Elections BC website (elections.bc.ca).
Elections BC’s Financial Reports and Political Contributions system (FRPC) allows the public to search and view scanned images of financing reports filed under the Referendum Act.

Referendum financing reports must be filed with the Chief Electoral Officer within 90 days after the close of voting for the referendum. The filing deadline for the reports was 4:30 p.m. on March 7, 2019. The reports include expenses of each filer and information regarding contributions they received.
The referendum financing reports may also include contribution information previously reported and disclosed on initial and subsequent reports.
There were 29 referendum advertising sponsors that registered with Elections BC. Of these, 16 sponsored referendum advertising with a value greater than $500 and were required to file financing disclosure reports. The proponent and opponent were both required to file financing reports.
All reports were received by the deadline.
