Media advisory – Elections BC Offers Plebiscite Observation Program

VICTORIA – Elections BC is offering observation of the screening, validation and counting processes of ballots for the 2015 Metro Vancouver Transportation and Transit Plebiscite. Individuals can apply to observe processes carried out by officials at Elections BC facilities in Victoria.

“Transparency of processes and procedures is integral to maintaining voter trust and confidence in voting outcomes,” says Chief Electoral Officer Keith Archer. “This opportunity provides interested individuals with a view of the detailed and dedicated work of Elections BC staff.”

30-minute observations are available May 25-June 5, and 90-minute observations are available June 8-19. A maximum of four individuals are permitted per observation. Observation is available through an application process on a first come, first served basis. A code of conduct and guidelines will be in effect to ensure integrity of the process.
