VICTORIA – British Columbia’s 85 District Electoral Officers begin final count to consider absentee and special voting ballots cast in the 40th Provincial General Election. Ballots considered at final count include:
Under the Election Act (s. 128), final count must not take place before the thirteenth day after General Voting Day. Final count is expected to be complete by the end of the day on Wednesday, May 29, 2013. Candidates and one candidate representative per candidate may be present at final count.
Elections BC will update voting results at http://electionsbcenr.blob.core.windows.net/electionsbcenr/result.html daily at 12 noon and 4:30 p.m. until final count is complete. At the end of final count, District Electoral Officers will declare the elected candidate in each electoral district. Writs of election will be returned to the Clerk of the Legislative Assembly on Wednesday, June 5, 2013.
A candidate request was made for a recount of advance and general voting ballots for the Saanich North and the Islands electoral district. The recount will take place immediately before final count.
