VICTORIA – The report of the Chief Electoral Officer on the 2022 General Local Elections is now available. General local elections were held across British Columbia on October 15, 2022.

The report describes Elections BC’s administration of the campaign financing and advertising rules established by the Local Elections Campaign Financing Act. This included reviews and audits of over 3,400 campaign financing disclosure statements, and issuing administrative monetary penalties in cases of non-compliance with the Act.
Some compliance and enforcement work related to the 2022 General Local Elections is ongoing. This includes several investigations into potential contraventions of LECFA by elector organizations. These investigations were announced in April 2024, and are summarized on Elections BC’s website here. Updates will be published on Elections BC’s website once these investigations conclude.
The report also includes recommendations for legislative change and a statement of Elections BC’s expenses.
