2022 Annual Financial Reports Available

VICTORIA – 2022 annual financial reports for provincial political parties and local elector organizations (civic political parties) are now available.

Provincial filers

The table below shows total political contributions raised by the major provincial political parties in 2022:

Fifteen political parties were required to file reports by March 31, 2023. All of the reports were filed by the deadline.

In addition to political contributions raised, provincial reports must contain:

  • assets, liabilities, surplus or deficit as of December 31, 2022,
  • total dollar amount of income tax receipts issued,
  • transfers of money, goods, or services received and given,
  • fundraising function information,
  • other income and expenditures, and
  • details of permissible loans and guarantees.

Provincial political parties must also disclose the details of contributions made to the party and its candidates, where the contributor gave more than $250 in total.

Local filers

Forty-eight elector organizations were required to file reports by March 31, 2023. Due to extenuating circumstances, the filing deadline for Vision Vancouver was extended to April 17, and the filing deadline for Team Surrey Schools was extended to May 1. Contract with Langley did not file their report by the deadline. This report may be filed by May 1, 2023 with a $500 late filing fee.

In addition to campaign contributions raised, local reports are required to contain:

  • election expenses incurred during the reporting period,
  • assets, liabilities, surplus or deficit as of December 31, 2022,
  • transfers of money, goods, or services received and given,
  • fundraising function information,
  • other income and expenditures, and
  • details of permissible loans.
