2020 Annual Financial Reports Available

VICTORIA – 2020 annual financial reports for political parties and constituency associations are now available. These reports include information previously disclosed on the 2020 Provincial General Election financing reports, and by political parties required to file interim financial reports in 2020.

The table below shows the total political contributions raised by each major party in 2020:

A total of 19 reports were required to be filed by the March 31, 2021 deadline. One party, BC Ecosocialists, did not file a report by the deadline and may file their report by June 30, 2021 with a $100 late filing fee.

In addition to political contributions raised, reports are required to contain:

  • assets, liabilities, surplus or deficit as of December 31, 2020
  • total dollar amount of income tax receipts issued
  • transfers of money, goods, or services received and given
  • fundraising function information
  • other income and expenditures, and
  • details of permissible loans and guarantees

Political parties must also disclose the details of contributions made to the party, its constituency associations and its candidates, where the contributor gave more than $250 in total.
