Elections BC maintains a range of high quality electoral data and information, including a geospatial database of B.C.’s electoral boundaries, road network and address data. We provide support to the boundary redistribution process and produce a variety of products necessary to administer electoral events, such as electoral maps and tools to support election officials working in voting places to determine a voter’s electoral district and voting area.

The Director, Electoral Geography leads the management and operation of Elections BC’s geographic information systems. As the Director, you will be accountable for the validity, reliability and timely availability of geographic and address data. Applying your technical expertise, you will provide strategic direction and advice regarding geographic infrastructure to our senior management and executive teams.

Job Requirements

To be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below.

Education and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in GIS, geography, cartography or related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Management-level operational experience in a related field, or an equivalent combination of operational and project management experience.

Related experience must include:

  • leading and empowering diverse teams
  • developing detailed event, operational and project plans
  • managing complex, multi-stakeholder projects
  • managing GIS and base mapping programs, address registries or personal data banks
  • supervising and directing the work of staff
