Media Advisory: Kelowna West By-election Voting Results Available February 14 After 8 p.m.

VICTORIA – Preliminary voting results for the Kelowna West by-election will be reported on Elections BC’s website after 8 p.m. (Pacific time) on February 14, General Voting Day.

Results will be updated regularly while initial count takes place at voting places throughout the Kelowna West electoral district. Ballots cast at advance and general voting are counted during initial count.

Preliminary results will include:

  • the number of votes cast for each candidate,
  • the percentage of the popular vote for each candidate,
  • the number of ballot boxes reported,
  • the total number of ballot boxes, and
  • the total number of certification envelopes containing absentee ballots cast.

Absentee ballots will be counted during final count, currently scheduled to begin on February 27. The Chief Electoral Officer may authorize final count to begin early depending on the number of absentee ballots cast. Final results will be available on the Elections BC website after the conclusion of final count.
