Media Advisory: 2014 General Local Elections Report Available

2014 GENERAL LOCAL ELECTIONS REPORT AVAILABLE

VICTORIA – The Report of the Chief Electoral Officer on the 2014 General Local Elections – November 15, 2014 is now available.

The report describes the activities Elections BC undertook to administer the campaign financing and election advertising requirements for the inaugural local elections under the Local Elections Campaign Financing Act (SBC 2014), Elections BC’s mandate, campaign financing and disclosure, disqualification lists, and Elections BC’s expenses.

The report summarizes Elections BC’s role in administering compliance with the Act in relation to three local by-elections and three non-election assent votes that took place after the 2014 General Local Elections and were concluded prior to the preparation of the report.

Included in the report are recommendations by the Chief Electoral Officer for changes to the Local Elections Campaign Financing Act.
