Media Advisory: Advance Voting Begins Tomorrow

VICTORIA – Advance voting for the 40th Provincial General Election begins Wednesday, May 8 and is available through Saturday, May 11, 2013. All B.C. voters can vote at any advance voting place between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. (local time).

Advance voting turnout statistics will be published on the Elections BC website at http://bit.ly/13tsfYh in the afternoon on the day after advance voting has taken place. Statistics for Saturday, May 11 will be published on Monday, May 13, 2013.

Turnout will be listed by electoral district and will include provincial totals. There are 85 electoral districts in the province.

Advance voting ballots are counted after the close of voting at 8 p.m. on May 14, General Voting Day.

In the 2009 General Election, 290,220 votes (17.57% of total votes) were cast at advance voting opportunities.

Voting is also available at district electoral offices until 4 p.m. on Tuesday, May 14, General Voting Day. All B.C. voters can vote at any general voting place in the province between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 14, General Voting Day.

Voters are reminded to bring their Where to Vote card to the voting place and identification to get a ballot. A list of acceptable identification types is available here.
